Santa Fe police are still searching for a man they believe shot and wounded another man Thursday at a car dealership on Cerrillos Road.
Santa Fe police Lt. Jimmie Montoya said Friday investigators found a car they believe was used in the shooting, but officers were still looking for the shooting suspect as well as another man they believe was driving the car.
“We’re working on a couple of leads, but right now we have a vehicle of interest in our custody, which hopefully we can begin searching today,” Montoya said. “Hopefully that will tell us a little bit more about what happened.”
Police dispatched to Octane GMC at Cerrillos Road and Harrison Road at about 5:15 p.m. Thursday found a man who had a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the dealership, a news release stated.
No criminal charges had been filed in the incident as of Friday evening, according to online court records.
Montoya said police found the dark blue Honda Accord that is suspected of being the getaway car in Santa Fe, but he declined to provide the location.
No witnesses to the shooting have come forward, Montoya said, but police were “combing through” surveillance video Friday to find more details.
Police described the shooter in the release as “a Hispanic male wearing a black and white NFL Raiders sweatshirt, black or dark-colored shorts, white shoes, and a black or dark-colored mask covering his face.”
The man who was shot was described by police as a 37-year-old Santa Fe resident.
Montoya declined to provide the victim’s identity Friday, saying police had not yet had the chance to interview him since he was still hospitalized in “stable, but critical” condition.
The intersection of Harrison and Cerrillos houses Octane GMC as well as the Interfaith Shelter at Pete’s Place. The shooting occurred near the same intersection where Santa Fe police shot a man in late April after he was accused of threatening several people in the area with a knife.
